In the discussion of gas stoves and ovens, we will use freestanding stove and wall oven. The gas cook cop unit has basically the same components as those related top cooking surface of the freestanding stove without the oven components. The oven components are the same for either type.
When there are no existing local codes, the stove installation must conform to the American National Standard, National Fuel Gas Code. This standard may be ordered from the American Gas Association. The installation of the stove must conform to the Federal Standard for Manufactured Construction and Safety, Title 74.
The stove must be completely disconnected from the gas supply system during the pressure testing of the gas supply system when the test pressure to be used is greater than 1 psi.
Should it be necessary to leave the stove connected to the gas supply system during the pressure testing the main manual gas shutoff valve must be closed when the system is to be tested with 1 psi or more.
PREPARING THE STOVE
Use the following steps when preparing a stove for installation:
1. Remove all shipping paper, cartons, or other packaging material.
2. Check and secure any parts that may have loosened in shipment.
3. Place a spirit level or a shallow pan of water on an oven rack and level the stove.
4. To level the stove, adjust the four leveling legs by turning them with a wrench. The stove will need to be pulled away from wall to reach the rear leveling legs. Some vinyl and plastic wall tiles and floor coverings, as well as some types of indoor/outdoor carpeting, will soften at temperatures below those normally encountered during the normal cooking process.
Before the stove is installed close to these coverings, a protective covering should be placed between them and the stove to protect the low-temperature melting materials to prevent the heat from damaging the material itself. After the stove has been removed froth it, shipping carton, and check to make certain that the pin housing is firmly plugged into the socket housing. Remove the cooking top front the stove. Locate and remove the two (2) shipping screws from each burner assembly.
Before starting the installation, close the stove shutoff valve. If the stove is not equipped with a shutoff valve, turn off the gas supply to all the appliances in the building, then shut tiff the gas supply at the gas meter.
